Cirque is an incredibly glitzy performance which has aimed to set itself apart by combining circus with musical theatre. The performers were incredibly talented doing tricks such as the general acrobatics, aerial hoops, extreme roller skating, miming, magic, and fire performances; all of which definitely were both impressive and magnificent.
The story is centred around an old-fashioned mime artist, who dreams of a life in colour. Former BGT finalist, Christian Lee, is cast brilliantly in this role.
James is the Creative Director of family business Entertainers, alongside his father Mike Lee Taylor, who was himself a former comedian and singer. James grew up watching his father perform on stage, starting his journey into show business.
Among the 17 performers is the roller-skating sensation Joel Hatton, West End star Ashley Luke Lloyd, and captivating dancers Stephen Strain and Jessica Walker. Joining them is Joel’s partner Romy Bauer, an 8th generation circus artist whose parents graced the stage of Blackpool Tower Circus.
Other cast members themselves are also truly inspiring; Christian Lee, mime artist within the show, is an award winning comedian, actor and magician. Kristiel Herrera who, originally from the Philippines, sung to not just one but five Presidents of the Philippines! Ashley Lloyd who has performed extensively on the West End stage and on national UK tours. And many many more.
This was an action-packed show with something for all the family – and a great tribute to the circus arts. An audience member from the Bedfordshire show at the Corn Exchange said it was “incredible” and “such a jaw dropping show”. She would “definitely recommend going to see [the show]” as it was a “great atmosphere” and the children would “love it”.
All the available dates and locations for their tour are up on their website. Cirque is currently on a whole UK tour and next appears in Bedfordshire on the 12th November in Dunstable. If you miss that show there are plenty more so not to worry, the tour continues until the 10th November 2024!
