Last week Adele’s 5-week Munich residency came to an end. It was a showstopper show which welcomed 730,000 fans to watch Adele in all her glory.
The incredible outdoor venue broke a Guiness World Record for having the biggest screen for any concert in history (a 220m x 30m LED screen). Alongside the venue, was a 75,000-square-metre Adele World. This unique wonderland included an authentic English pub, a fairground wheel, karaoke, Farmers Markets, merchandise and a typical Bavarian beer garden with live entertainment.
No matter the weather, Adele put on a performance of a lifetime – in which she performed some of her greatest hits. Some of the songs on the set list included: ‘Hello’, ‘When We Were Young’, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and ‘Hometown Glory’. To enhance her performances she also used fire and fireworks to ensure that her fans had an unforgettable experience.
Ciaran Oneill attended the concert in August in which he described it to be ‘surreal’. ‘I started freaking out, I completely thought it was a dream. It was the most surreal experience I think I’ve ever had - it was just amazing to see all the fairy lights and all the stalls, and then of course the huge arena’.
His favourite performances were 'All I Ask and Someone Like You, for two very different reasons. For All I Ask, I’ve always felt close to that song - it’s always been my get out of reality song and hearing it in person is just something else. It made me bawl my eyes out, but with Someone Like You it was the crowd interaction and seeing Adele cry which made it so special.’
Adele’s Munich shows had an incredible impact on her fans, but she also explained how performing in Germany has been an unforgettable experience for her too.
She said ‘Wow! Wow! Wow! Munich you were incredible! What a phenomenal experience. I am truly touched by the genuine outpouring of love and good will I felt from every single person who came to every single show. It was the best vibes all round. I've never seen anything like these shows it was truly spectacular, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to do them. I hope those of you who came had the best time at 'Adele World. I had the time of my life adding all the personal and immersive touches to it. I'm overwhelmingly proud of my entire team and teammates. Thank you as always for making me look so fucking good. There truly is no feeling like standing in front of people you've never met, belting out a bunch of songs that changed your life that in ways somehow changed theirs too. It's truly remarkable and an extraordinary story to be able to tell. l've been sobbing watching this beautiful video! Danke Munchen!’
The Munich shows were Adele’s first performances in mainland Europe since 2016. Fans are hoping that she will be returning after her well-deserved break.
Adele has 10 final shows in Las Vegas before she steps back from music for a break. She told the fans that she wouldn’t see them for ‘an incredibly long time’. Munich will forever remain special to Adele and her fans as it was a residency that will never be forgotten.
